Stay grounded in truth. Trust and know He is good and his LOVE will ALWAYS prevail for for your life! He is ALWAYS ready to bring breakthrough and healing in your life and mine!
“Wake up, oh Jerusalem! Get out of bed! PUT YOUR FACE in the sunlight! God’s bright glory has risen for you! The whole Earth is wrapped in darkness but GOD RISES ON YOU, his sunrise glory breaks over you!” Isaiah 60:1 (Message)
Does anyone else just feel like that is the WORD for now? Seriously, just say it aloud…feel the difference! If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this crazy journey with Jesus is that our ability to see change and the power of God in our life rests on our fundamental belief in who He is and who WE are. I know this is far from easy, especially when life is tough and things aren’t going your way…2010 hasn’t been the easiest year for Kyle and I. Obviously, the highlight of the year was getting married (which really makes everything else ok) but overall, it’s been rough. It’s almost felt like the entire year has been one big giant transition. When the cancer happened—well, it certainly would have been easier to just throw in the towel, feel really sorry for ourselves and wallow in self-pity.
Absolutely not. That deep-rooted knowledge planted years ago that I was loved by an extravagant God began to reign in my heart…not in my mind…but in my heart. It was when I made conscience decisions to pray over and control my thoughts when I really began to see the difference in my spirit. Every day I spoke truth into my life–my mind–my spirit. Driving to work, taking a shower, baking muffins–didn’t matter. If I thought it, I controlled it. And slowly but surely…it came. This joy…this infinite joy that was no longer a fleeting emotional experience (like it had been in early days with Jesus) but it was like this powerful river that flowed from deep within that was…is…unshakable. Understanding this new-found power I have over my mind and spirit has completely changed, healed and restored my relationship with Jesus.
All this to say…if it’s joy you want…if it’s healing you want…if it’s breakthrough…start with seeking the truth. Read the word. Pray. Worship. And take freakin’ control over what you allow in your mind and spirit. If it’s not Jesus’ truth–get rid of it. Plain and simple. Do this and I guarantee things will change in your life!
Proverbs 4: 25-27, “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.”
When this scripture says to turn your foot away from evil, don’t be fooled that it only means to stay away from sin–evil thoughts simply means to agree with the devil–and believe me, agreeing with the devil is FAR more powerful than sin. Jesus died to set us free from sin but he gave us free will to choose and think for ourselves. Take control! Set yourself free!
